Provenance:

  • En 1822, Blondel exécute pour la galerie de Diane au château de Fontainebleau vingt-et-une compositions. Ce tableau est une esquisse pour le tableau central du quatrième compartiment de la voûte. Dans le tableau définitif, l'artiste a repris le schéma général de l'étude en supprimant le personnage placé à l'extrême gauche ;
