Summary[edit]
DescriptionDeserted Medieval Village at Hill - geograph.org.uk - 1089291.jpg |
English: Deserted Medieval Village at Hill The remains of a deserted medieval village are evident at Hill, immediately to the east of Hill Court Farm. It is believed the medieval village settlement dates back to the time of the Domesday Book and was deserted around the late medieval and or post-medieval period. Surrounding the site fields still show ridge and furrow from medieval farming practices. Pictured here is the village's prominent boundary bank and because of its hilltop location there is the possibility that the site occupies an Iron Age enclosure. |
