Den hier veröffentlichten stein fand ich im sommer 1900 auf der reise von Urga nach dem kloster Handu-Wangs, Eine photographie des steins sandte ich in demselben jahre an herrn prof. Otto Donner. Die platte ging aber auf dem heimweg verloren, wie auch alle anderen resultate meiner ersten Reise in der Mongolei. Im jahre 1909 suchten ich und mein gefährte, mag. phil. Sakari Pälsi, den stein wieder auf. Die aufnahme ist von ihm gemacht, ich selbst habe mir am platze eine genaue Kopie gezeichnet. Der fundort liegt WSW vom Ar-Askhatu-berge und OSO von Dolōn-Khuduk („Sieben brunnen“) auf der südseite des hügels Sūdzin-dawā in einem tälchen, das sich nach W nach der grossen ebene Jatūtīn öffnet, auf der sich Dolōn-Khuduk, Tsaisam, Talīn-ulān u. a. plätze befinden und welche die nördliche fortsetzung der ebene Khara-Sārīn-tala (an der Tula) bildet. [...] Den stein fanden ich und S. Pälsi auf dem boden der einen grube nach vielem suchen unter grösseren und kleineren steinen wieder. Er besteht aus einem ca. 10 cm dicken und 90 cm langen schieferstück, das nicht verwittert ist, aber durch wälzen und stürzen etwas gelitten hat. Die schriftfläche ist ursprünglich von menschenhand etwas geglättet, oben ist der stein abgerundet und das untere ende, das einmal in der erde gesteckt hat, wahrscheinlich etwas zugespitzt. Auf der vorderseite oben sieht man das tamga. Die schrift läuft in 9 zeilen von unten nach oben. Dazu kommen noch zwei zeilen, die unten auf der unebenen fläche quer eingehauen sind. Die Schrift ist nicht tief eingraviert, wahrscheinlich wegen des spröden, sich leicht spaltenden materials." |
