Summary[edit]

Description This Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad narrow-gauge, coal-burning steam locomotive is on display at Royal Gorge, near Canon City, Colorado, USA. The engine was built in 1902 by Baldwin Locomotive Works as a standard gauge 2-8-0 and used as Denver & Rio Grande Railroad # 1125. It was rebuilt by that railroad in 1930 as a narrow-gauge 2-8-2, model K-37 to become Denver & Rio Grande Western # 499. In 1981, it was acquired by the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado.
