| Description |
English: Dent station, 1986. View southward, towards Settle Junction, Hellifield, Leeds etc.: ex-Midland Settle - Carlisle main line. Having been closed 4/5/70, this 'Highest Main-line Station in Britain' never really closed but remained a stop for Excursions throughout the period when the Settle - Carlisle line was in limbo, but after rescue and revival of the route, Dent station was reopened fully on 14/7/86 - just after I took this photograph. The station is also the most distant from its village, which is over five miles to the west. |
