Summary[edit]

Description
English: March is Women’s History month, and we want to highlight some of the amazing women here at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on our social media sites.

Name:
Denise E. Sheehan

Title:
Assistant Director- Budget, Planning and Human Capital

Duty Station:
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Headquarters, Falls Church, VA

Female Conservation Hero and Mentor:
Jamie Rappaport Clark

Where did you go to school?
College of William & Mary, BA, 1978
Old Dominion University, MPA, 1986
Virginia Tech, MS, 2004

What did you study?
William & Mary: double majors in psychology and sociology; double minors in Spanish and geology
Old Dominium University: Public Administration, emphasis in budget and finance
Virginia Tech: Marriage and Family Therapy, College of Human Development

How did you get interested in conservation?
I have always been an animal lover, so I wanted them to have better lives. Now, I am also passionate about addressing the biggest challenge of our time: global climate change.

What is your favorite species and why?

My favorite species is the wolf, because it is regal, intelligent, breathtakingly beautiful, emotionally sensitive, the ancestor to our wonderful dogs, and greatly maligned. This species needs better PR. Most people do not realize that there has never been a documented wolf attack on a human in the lower 48 states.
