SYDBERG I à NGERMANLAND, MEDELPAD OCH JÃMTLAND 277 81. Hofverberget. En af de mest framträdande höjderna kring Stor- sjön är det inom Bergs s:n väster om sjöns sydligaste vik belägna Hofver- berget (537 m.). Det reser sig 245 m. öfver Storsjöns yta och utgöres af en öfver silurslätten öfverskjuten skÃ¥lla af porfyr och kvartsit. Bergroten nedanför dess tvärbranta hammare (fig. 43 och 44) är sedan gammalt bekant genom förekomsten af mänga för dessa trakter sällsynta växter. När C. J. Hartman (108, s. 128) 1813 som ung »med. stud.» gjorde sina »physiografiska observationer» under en resa genom södra
