Description
English: Capt. Mark S. Ginda, commanding officer of Naval Submarine Base New London, begins the demolition of building 442 as he takes the controls of an EC460BLC excavator. The demolition of this building, as well as others slated for demolition, is part of the Navy's Shore Vision 2035, a program to reduce base infrastructure by reusing the land under unneeded buildings. This will restructure Naval Bases to meet the ever-changing needs of the Navy, reduce costs and decrease the Navy's infrastructure footprint.
