English: U.S. Navy Airmen Patrick E. Farmer and Luis A. Felix stand a force protection watch at a .50-caliber machine gun onboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) as the aircraft carrier departs its operating port of Yokosuka, Japan, on July 19, 2004. The Kitty Hawk Strike Group is involved in Summer Pulse '04, a U.S. Naval exercise where seven aircraft carrier strike groups will learn new ways of operating, training, manning and maintaining their fleet. This is part of the Navy's new Fleet Response Plan that will train the fleets to provide assistance in a national emergency or crisis. Farmer and Felix are both assigned to the Kitty Hawk's weapons department. |
