Summary[edit]

Description
English: A splendid, rather overdecorated gravestone in the graveyard of St Mary and St Nicholas in Wilton, south Wiltshire. The two columns of polished granite give the stone a luxury feel. The HS symbol can be clearly seen. IHS is a stylized version of iota-eta-sigma, a Greek abbreviation of "Iesus Hominum Salvator" ("Jesus, savior of mankind"). More commonly used on Roman Catholic graves.
