Ng.), sjaal of draagband voor vrouwen.Eigenlijk is de naam van den doek ontstaan naar den naam van de wijze (slèndang ofsëmlèndang), waarop men eiken doek, gewoonlijk een këmbën of borstkleed als sierdoekdragen kan. Slèndang of sëmlèndang beteekent dus eigenlijk: een sierdoek (onverschillig welke) overeen schouder „en bandoulière (dus schuindwars over de borst) dragen, in tegenstelling vansampir ofsëmampir, d.i. een sierdoek (onverschillig welke) over een schouder recht naarbeneden hangende dragen, en ter onderscheiding ook van rimong, d.i. een sierdoek (onver-schillig welke) als een mantelover den rug en om beideschouders dragen.De slèndang is ontstaanuit de këmbën, die vroegerdus behalve als borstkleedook als sierdoek gebruiktwerd.
