Beschrijving : De echtgenote van de Indonesische nationalist Sjahrir, leider van het Indonesische kabinet, woont te Santpoort, waar zij door kantoorwerk in het onderhoud voor zich en haar twee kinderen voorziet. Mevrouw Sjahrir, geboren Maria Duchateau, is in Delft geboren, waar haar man de universiteit bezocht. Zij is thans 39 jaar en is in 1936 volgens de Mohammedaanse wetten getrouwd, welk huwelijk door de Nederlandse regering niet is erkend. Daarom werd zij tegen haar wil naar Nederland gerepatrieerd, terwijl haar man na het uitbreken van de vijandelijkheden met Japan naar het kamp aan de Boven-Digoul werd overgebracht. Onnodig te zeggen dat mevrouw Sjahrir gaarne weer naar Indië terug zou willen.
