Object history Provenance: Antiquarian bookseller Jensen, Odense 1909, former headmaster H. Rasmussen 1909, art dealer Segerlin 1921. French private collection of Danish Golden Age paintings. Auctioned at Artcurial in Paris on April 16, 2019; not sold (Lot 123). Sold at Bruun Rasmussen Auctions on October 14, 2019 for DKK 6,000 (Lot 1942/8514).

Dette portræt af Philip IV har jeg 1909 kjøbt af Antikvarhandler Jensen i Odense, som har faaet det fra en Dame i Assens, hvis Moder, en Tante til Maleren Dankvart Dreyer, har arvet det sammen med en Del andre Billeder af nævnte Kunstner efter hans Død. Hun påstod det var malet af denne Kunstner.
