English: A German Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) Class 44 engine (44 1269ÜK) in a bomb crater at an unknown German railroad station, in 1945. The later part of the station name is "...mburg", as visible on the sign in the background. The engine was delivered on 23 September 1942 and was repaired. It was allocated to the French D.O.C.F. (Détachement d'Occupation des Chemins de Fer Français), at Speyer, Germany, as 44 1269 on 1 August 1945. The engine was renumbered 044 270-7 in 1968 and was retired on 10 December 1971 at Trier. |
