English: The title page of Daines Barrington (1766) Observations on the Statutes, Chiefly the More Ancient, from Magna Charta to The Twenty-first of James the First, Ch. xxvii. With an Appendix; being a Proposal for New Modelling the Statutes, 2nd corr. edition, London: Printed by W[illiam] Bowyer and J[ohn] Nichols, and sold by S. Baker, in York-Street; and W. Sandby, in Fleet-Street, OCLC 367397609.

The Latin text is as follows:

"——tabulas peccare vetantes,
"Quas bis quinque viri ſanxerunt." Hor.
["——that the Tables forbidding transgression,
"which the ten men enacted, […]" Horace [Epistles, book II, poem I, lines 23–24]
"Nam tametſi non integras contineant politiarum deſcriptiones, habent tamen memora-
"bilia quædam inſtituta, nec in vulgus nota, quæ quidem talia ſunt, ut, qui ea rectè adhi-
"bere voluerit, ſæpe in conſiliis, in legibus, in judiciis commodare potuerit.” Nich.
