Summary[edit]

Description
English: Photograph of a simple rope model of a circular paranemic DNA duplex. This means a duplex whose strands have no topological linkage. In such a model, the strands can be separated without breaking either one, as shown in this rather trivial illustration. For the plectonemic model, whose strands are topologically locked, the situation is more complex. See the file <DNA, strands locked (plectonemic)>.
