Der Kreistag des Märkischen Kreises hat in seiner Sitzung am 04.03.1976 die Einführung des Wappens für den Märkischen Kreis beschlossen. Am 06.05.1976 hat der Regierungspräsident in Arnsberg die Genehmigung hierzu erteilt.
