| Description |
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Lintorf, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Ratingen: „In Gold (Gelb) über einem grünen Hügel, eine grüne Linde, deren Stamm von einem achtschaufeligen roten Wasserrad überdeckt ist.“ Im Jahre 1938 verlieh der Oberpräsident der Rheinprovinz der Gemeinde das Wappen. Da keine älteren Siegel vorhanden waren, musste eine Neuschöpfung her. Das durch den Heraldiker Wolfgang Pagenstecher geschaffene Wappen sollte "redend" sein. Die Silbe "Lin-" leitete Pagenstecher von Linde ab, wie sich aber herausstellte bedeutet Linthorpe, Lynthorpa, Lintorp, Linntorf oder Lindorff "Dorf am Wasser" (Dickelsbach), welches wiederum durch das Wasserrad symbolisiert wird; darüber hinaus erinnert es an die Lintorfer Mühle. English: „Or, above a terrace base curved vert, a tilia tree vert, the stem overlaid with an eightfold shoveled water wheel gules.“
The arms were granted in 1938. The arms show the (wrongly) canting tilia tree and a water mill wheel, which symbolises the Lintorfer Mühle, which was one of the main mills in the area. The small hill in the base of the shield symbolises the fact that the village originally was built on a hill. |
