Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde zunächst 1960 der Gemeinde Herringen verliehen, welche dann am 1.Januar 1968 in die Gemeinde Pelkum eingemeindet wurde. Das Wappen wurde dann von der neuen Gemeinde Pelkum weitergeführt. Der Turnierkragen stammt aus dem Wappen der ortsadeligen Ritterfamilie diesseits der Lippe, die Symbole des Bergbaus betonen die Bedeutung des Steinkohlenbergbaus und die sogenannte Hausmarke stammt vom ehemaligen Schulzenhof Isenbeck in der ehemaligen Gemeinde Wiescherhöfen und kann als "I" (Isen-) über einem Wellensparren (-beck - Bach) als "redendes" Symbol gedeutet werden.
English: The arms were granted in 1960 for the municipality of Herringen and further from 1968 till 1974 for the municipality of Pelkum. The upper part is taken from the arms of the Lords of Herringen. The miner's tools indicate the importance of mining in the municipality and the lower part shows the symbol of the estate Isenbeck in the municipality. |
