Description
Deutsch: Wappen der Stadt Gronau (Westf.) von 1898-1937: „In Grün, geteilt durch einen rechtsschrägen silbern (weiß) gesäumten goldenen (gelben) dreifach schwarzgeteilten Balken.“ Die Farbe grün weist auf die Bezeichnung des alten Gronau als „Grüne Aue“ hin. Der Balken stellt die Lage an der Dinkel dar.
English: The first arms of Gronau were granted in 1898 and showed a golden bend, with silver lining in a green field. On the bend were three black bars. The green field is canting (Gronau comes from Grüne Aue, or green field). The bend symbolises the Dinkel river that runs through the city.
