Object history
Deutsch: Als Marksteinzeichen ist für 1634 der Großbuchstabe E in einem Schild belegt. Ein Ofenstein aus dem Jahr 1751 im Rathaus zeigt ebenso wie ein für 1793 belegtes Fleckensiegel eine Erle, deren Stamm mit einem steigenden Mond beheftet ist. Während sich die Erle als „redende" Wappenfigur auf den Ortsnamen bezieht, erinnert der Mond als Wappenfigur von Bönnigheim an die historischen Beziehungen zur früheren Herrschaft und zur Stadt Bönnigheim. Von 1913 bis 1979 zierte die Erle allein das Gemeindewappen. 1979 beschloss der Gemeinderat die Wiederaufnahme des ursprünglichen Wappenbildes. Das Wappen und die Flagge wurden vom Landratsamt Ludwigsburg am 8. April 1980 verliehen.
