Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Elte, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Rheine: „Geteilt in Schwarz und Silber (Weiß), oben ein silberner (weißer) Schwan mit schwarzen, in die untere Schildhälfte übergreifenden Füßen, unten aufwärts ein gekrümmter schwarzer Fisch mit roten Kiemen, Zähnen, Schuppen und Schwanzflossen sowie rotem Auge.“
Der Schwan steht für die Edelherren von Steinfurt, die in Elte die Schwanenburg besaßen. Der Fisch weißt auf die Ems und das Fischereirecht der Steinfurter Edelherren hin.
English: „Party per fess shield sable and Argent, above a swan Argent with feet sable which rise in the underpart and below an upwards crooked fish sable with teeth, gills, hovels, tail fin and eye; all gules.“
The swan symbolises the Lords of Steinfurt, owner of the Schwanenburg of Elte. The fish symbolises the Ems river and fishery rights in the river. |
