Object history
Deutsch: Die Herrschaft über den Ort gelangte Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts an die Markgrafen von Baden. Das 1542 erwähnte und in Abdrucken von 1555 bis 1593 erhaltene erste Dorfsiegel zeigt wie bei anderen markgräflichen Orten auch das Wappen der Landesherren und als spezielles Zeichen einen schlichten Krummstab. Erst seit dem 19. Jahrhundert waren wieder Siegel in Gebrauch. In ihnen ist nur noch ein Stab mit kleiner Krümmung abgebildet. Das in Anlehnung an das erste Siegel gestaltete Wappen ist im Januar 1901 von der Gemeinde angenommen worden. Die Tingierung des hinteren Feldes wurde frei gewählt. Der Krummstab dürfte kaum, wie behauptet wurde, auf das Hochstift Speyer und mehrere Klöster, die in Durmersheim begütert waren, hinweisen, sondern eher als Pilgerstab zu deuten sein wegen der Wallfahrtskirche in Bickesheim, das wohl schon im 14. Jahrhundert in Durmersheim aufgegangen ist. Die Flagge wurde am 23. Mai 1990 vom Landratsamt Rastatt verliehen.
