English: The arms were granted in 1929.
„The arms are based on the seal of the local council of Bracht from the 14th century. The St. Mary is the patron saint of the church of Bracht, whereas the lion is the lion of Jülich. The area was part of the county (later duchy) of Jülich."
Deutsch: „In Blau rechts die auf einer goldenen (gelben) Bank mit silbernen (weißen) Aufsätzen sitzende Muttergottes mit rotgrünem Gewand und goldener (gelber) Lilienkrone. Gesicht, Hände und Haar sind silbern (weiß). Mit der linken Hand umfasst sie auf dem Schoß das silberne (weiße), von einem rot-silbernen (weißen) Heiligenschein umgebene Jesuskind. In der rechten Hand hält sie einen Rosenzweig mit 3 roten Blüten. Links ein steigender, rotbezungter goldener (gelber) Löwe, der einen blauen Wimpel, darauf ein goldener (gelber) rotbezungter Löwe, an silbernen (weißen) Schaft mit goldener (gelber) Spitze in den Tatzen hält.“ Das Wappen zeigt die Patronin der Brachter Pfarrkirche St. Mariae Himmelfahrt in rot-grüner Kleidung auf der linken Seite und den gelben Löwen Gelderns mit einem Lehensstander mit dem Löwen Jülichs. Dieses Wappen war bereits im 12. Jh. das Siegel eines Schöffengerichts. |
