Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Bauerschaft Bochold, seit 1915 Stadtteil von Essen:
„ In Silber (Weiß) ein roter Göpel mit Astgabelkreuzenden bewinkelt von grünen Buchenblättern mit rotem Stil.“

Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen.

Die alten Namen Bocholds sind „Bocholta“, „Bucholte“ und „Boicholte“; sie bedeuten Buchenholz oder -wald. Bochold ist demnach eine Siedlung, die nach einer Rodung von Buchenwald entstanden ist. Es handelt sich somit um ein "redendes Wappen", welches hier die Buchenblätter symbolisieren. Der Göpel ist eine mechanische Vorrichtung zur Erzeugung einer Antriebskraft. Früher drehten Pferde mittels sternförmig angeordneter Holzbalken eine Achse. Göpel wurden auch zur Förderung von Kohle eingesetzt.

The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts.

The arms are canting; Bochold means "Buchholz or Buchenwald" - a forest with beeches. The pall reversed is used in former times with horses as part from a practive force; for example for coal minining.
