Summary[edit]

Description
English: Cwm Hyddgen The Afon Hyddgen can be seen meandering at the bottom of this wide and shallow valley. This area is the site of the battle fought in 1401 between Owain Glyndwr's Welsh army and Henry I's English troops with Flemish settlers from Pembrokeshire (Coflein[1]: http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/402310/ ). Glyndwr won the battle but nevertheless lost his principality fourteen years later. The two quartz rocks on the opposite bank of the Afon Hyddgen (one can be seen about one third from the left edge of the picture) are known as Cerrig Cyfammod Glyndwr (Glyndwr's covenant stones), but it isn't clear if they are a contemporaneous memorial or erratic boulders deposited naturally (Coflein[1]: http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/303679/ ).
