| Description | We woke up at 3 am, brushed teeth, broke down our tent, packed the last things in the car and drove to the harbour. We needed to check in at 4 am at the office of Anek Lines. But the office was closed. Most of the part was empty, there were some trucks waiting and safety employees hanging around, but no one could tell us where to go to check in. Some other tourists made the same mistake like us to follow the instructions on the ticket. We forgot that in Greece the regulations are just on paper, not in reality. So most of the cars arrived just half an hour before the ship entered the port. And no one came to check us in. But at least we could buy some bread for breakfast in the port coffeeshop, which opened at 6 am. And finally we could enter the ship at 7:30h. On the ship we had our own cabin where we could make a nap and read a bit. The trip was very relaxed: enjoying the sun and swimmming pool on the sundeck, walking around over the other decks, reading a book in the cabin, chatting with other tourists.... We met two Italian guys who spoke German as they came from Tirol and they had been cycling in Greece. When we woke up in the morning, the ship was already entering Venice. From the deck we had a spectacular view on the old city. |
