Summary[edit]

Description

Title: Cup, trophy Description: Tankard. The tankard was presented to W. Jones by the Auckland Racing Club in 1876. The tankard is made of pewter and has a curved shape with a flared base. The body of the tankard has a wide band of textured patterning. Near the top rim there is another band with a repeating pattern of dots. The front of the tankard has a shield-shaped escutcheon with an inscription: "A.R.C. / W.JONES / 4 / JAN. 1876". The maker's mark is on the base of the tankard: "LEE & WIGFULL / SHEFFIELD / 2012".
