English: Bas-relief in Via San Gregorio Armeno, Naples, representing perhaps a canefora, priestess of Ceres (Demeter for the Greeks), whose temple is believed to be present in the area in the antiquity. " Among the gods homelands (Neapolis) it was one of three major Ceres (Demeter). Although the cults of deities were brought from the homelands of the Euboean colony Calcidesi (Abaniia classis), the Athenian colony coming in Naples definitely influenced the cult of Ceres. Neapolitan priestesses of Ceres were so famous that Rome took in Naples or in Velia ministers of the goddess".(Bartolommeo Capasso)
