La Cueva Paraíso (Paradise Cave o Hang Thien Duong) es una gruta situada en el parque nacional de Phong Nha-Ke Bang, en la provincia de Quang Binh, Vietnam. Ha sido designada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Fue descubierta en 2005 por una persona llamada Ho Khanh. Ese mismo año, un equipo de espeleólogos de la Asociación Británica para la investigación de Cuevas (British Cave Research Association) exploraron la cueva en su totalidad. Se trata de una cueva de origen kárstico de 31,4 km de largo, siendo la cueva "seca" más grande de Asia. Desde 2010 está abierta al público. Para la visita se ha habilitado un recorrido lineal de pasarelas de aproximadamente 1100 metros con un sistema de iluminación que realza las enormes formaciones de estalactitas y estalagmitas. Existen tours especiales que permiten adentrarse hasta 4,5 km en este mundo subterráneo. Para llegar a la entrada se debe ascender 570 metros por una pasarela entre la vegetación. Una vez que se ingresa, se debe bajar muchos escalones en la pasarela de madera para llegar a nivel del suelo. El comienzo de la cueva es una enorme caverna, más grande que un estadio de basketball, pero cuando se llega un poco más adentro son las estalactitas, las estalagmitas y las columnas de piedra caliza que dominan la vista. Las hay en todas las formas y tamaños diferentes -finas y gruesas, lisas y dentadas. Algunas parecen filas de guardianes vigilando su teatro, otras parecen casas, otras una cascada. Es difícil capturar en fotos la sensación de estar en Paradise Cave. Ninguna imagen puede mostrar la magnitud, los colores ni el detalle de esta maravilla creada por la naturaleza a través de 300 millones de años. |
