Description
Cruikshank bezieht sich mit diesem Blatt auf den britischen Sieg gegen die Franzosen am 21. Juli 1813 beim nordspanischen Vittoria. Die Kutsche, die Joseph Bonaparte (Napoleon hatte seinen Bruder 1808 zum König von Spanien gemacht) retten soll, bleibt im Schlamm stecken. Auch das Flehen Josephs "My Kingdom for a Horse" (in Anspielung auf Shakespeare) und das Antreiben des Pferdes durch den mit einem Dreschflegel bewaffneten Soldaten hilft nicht.
