Summary[edit]

Description
English: Crucifix and church sign board, Kilkhampton The scallop shells at the top of the board are the symbol of pilgrims, see [[:en:Way_of_St._James#The_significance_of_the_scallop_symbol|]]. The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in north west Spain owes its origin to the discovery, in what is now Galicia, of the tomb of the Apostle James the Great sometime early in the 9C.
