English: U.S. Marshal Crowley P. Dake was the U.S Marshal for the Arizona Territory from 1878 to 1882. Dake was noted for his creativity and ability for deputizing civilian posse's after the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 was passed which forbade the use of military forces in civilian posses. Dake was responsible for Deputizing Virgil Earp who in turn Deputized Wyatt, Morgan and Doc Holiday who confronted outlaw Cowboys in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
