| Description |
English: Crossness Sewage Treatment Works: Sludge powered generator Up until 1998 the sludge from Thames Water's Crossness Sewage Treatment Works was carried out to the North Sea and dumped from a ship. However to accord with an EC directive banning such activities, Thames Water built this generator which uses the sludge and generates up to 5 megawatts of electricity, about ¾ of the works' requirements. |
