English: In 1984 The Crickets were playing at the Coliseum Ballroom, Davenport, Iowa. They are pictured here with police officer Trula Ann Godwin, formerly of Lubbock, Tx where they met when she was 17. She was a friend of theirs and of Buddy Holly. They referred to her as "little sister" and when she came to their "gigs" in Lubbock (it was just before they broke into the "big time", they always seated her and her girlfriend at a table by the stage so they could "keep an eye on her" and the guys that wanted to dance with her. Trula moved to Iowa in 1957 and they lost contact. After Buddy's death, Trula had become a police officer and sex crime expert in Davenport, Iowa. Every time the Crickets played there, there was a reunion and sometimes she worked security for them. In this picture, photographer Ray Congrove (pictured in the suit) had only one shot left at the end of the concert and he handed off his camera to a friend to snap this picture. He then gave a copy to me, Trula's sister, after her death and the two of us have shared it liberally with fans all over, ever since.
