BALL, Charles, Trooper 3363 1st Life Guards. Died 17th January 1915 Buried in Crewe Cemetery, Cheshire

BENTLEY, Herbert Cook, Lance Corporal 40485, A Coy 20th Manchester Regiment, formerly 1638, Earl of Chester's Imperial Yeomanry, died of wounds 8th May 1917 aged 26. He was the only son of Frederick and Elizabeth of Crewe. Buried at Bois Guillaume Communal Cemetery Extension, Seine-Maritime, France

BOWLER, William Josiah, 2nd Lieutenant, 5th Royal Air Force died 2nd November 1918 aged 19. He was the son of William and Sophy Elizabeth of 2, Nile Street, Crewe, Cheshire. Buried in Douai british Cemetery, Cuincy, Nord France

CUNNIFFE, John Albert, Lance Corporal 22804 (Memorial has Private, King's Liverpool Regiment) 214th Coy, Machine Gun Corps, formerly 26152, King's Liverpool Regiment killed in action 20th September 1917 aged 24. He was the son of Mr and Mrs P Cunniffe of 230, Alton Street, Crewe, Cheshire. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

DANE, Harry Corporal 23257, 14th Royal Welsh Fusiliers. killed in action 26th August 1918. Buried at Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval, Somme, France

EATON, Frederick William, Private M2/104305, 13th Motor Ambulance Convoy Mechanical Transport, Royal Army Service Corps died 25th September 1915 aged 27. He was the son of William Edward and Frances Mary of "Wheatcroft" 50, Broad Street, Crewe, Cheshire. Buried in Abbeville Communal Cemetery, Somme, France

EATON-SHORE, John James, Lieutenant, Royal Marine Engineer, 63rd Royal Naval Division died 14th November 1916 aged 36. He was the son of George and Louisa of Crewe, Cheshire. EATON-SHORE, James Marbury, ( Memorial has M) Rifleman (Private) 5401 1/6th London Regiment Queens Westminsters Rifles killed in action 10th September 1916 aged 28. he was the son of James and Annie of Garth, Milford, Staffordshire. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France

GRIFFITH, Harry Rathbone, (Memorial has H)Lieutenant, Royal Army Medical Corps died 21st May 1916 aged 50. He was the son of the Rev. Joseph Griffith and Charlotte Griffith; husband of Mary E. Anwyl Griffith, of Tanyronen, Portmadoc, Caernarvonshire. Born at Bettws-Y-coed, Caernarvonshire. M.D. Trinity College, Dublin. Buried at Oswestry General Cemetery, Shropshire

HANLEY, Ferdinand Vincent, Private 7421, 1st Honourable Artillery Company died of wounds 1st May 1917 aged 30. He was the son of Michael and Mary of Crewe, Cheshire. Buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, Pas de Calais, France

JONES, James Henry, (It may be this soldier) Private 26314, 7th King's Shropshire Light Infantry, (Memorial has Royal Fusiliers) and formerly 3765, Cheshire Regiment, killed in action 13th November 1916. He was born at Monks, Coppenhall, Crewe, and in 1901 he was living with his parents John Henry and Annie at 6, Broom Street, and in 1911 was living with his widowed mother and siblings at 46, Naylor Street, Crewe. and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France

NICOL, William, Private 2487, H Coy, 1/10th King's Liverpool Regiment, formerly 255, Royal Engineers (Territorial Force (TF)) killed in action 16th June 1915 aged 22 he was reported missing after being in action at Hooge. Son of Alexander and Louisa Nicol, of 133, Wistaston Road, Crewe, Cheshire. Commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

POWELL, G, Private, King's Liverpool Regiment. There are several G.Powell, King's Liverpool Regiment listed with the CWGC. Not sure which is the correct record.

SHENTON, Frank, Private 61449 12th Manchester Regiment, (Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry) formerly 40330 South Lancashire Regiment, killed in action 1st September 1918 aged 30. Born at Crewe and resided at Tarporley, Cheshire. He was the husband of Dora of The Crown Hotel, Tarporley, Cheshire. Commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, Pas de Calais, France

TAYLOR, Ernest Edward, Private 19164, 7th King's Shropshire Light Infantry killed in action 13th November 1916 aged 21. He was the son of Walter and Elizabeth Ann of 42, Webb Road, Crewe, Cheshire. Buried in Serre Road Cemetery, No3, Puisieux, Pas de Calais, France

WARNEFORD, Walter Kemeys Francis Goodall, Captain, North Sea Airship No "XI" Army Flying Corps, Royal Air Force died 15th July 1919. He resided at Lansdowne House, Hayton, near Liverpool. He was the son of Walter Wyndham Hanbury and Mary Elizabeth. He was born 19th July 1895 and baptised on the 3rd September 1895 at All Saints, Salterhebble, West Yorkshire. At one time he was an apprentice aged 16 for the London and North Western Railway Company. He is cCommemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton, Hampshire

WILLIAMS, John Bywater, Lance Corporal (CWGC have Private) 2364, 1/5th King's Liverpool Regiment, killed in action 1st January 1917 aged 27. He was the son of John and Emma of Crewe. He is buried at Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

KITCHEN, Fred Tudor, 2nd Lieutenant, 6th South Wales Borderers, formerly Private and then Acting Sergeant 11989 3rd Cheshire Regiment killed in action 28th May 1918. He was the son of Harry and Florence Mary who in 1911 were living at 226, Nantwich Road, Parish of Monks Coppenhall, Crewe, Cheshire. He is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, Aisne, France (see his Medal Card)

BULLOCK, Charles Sidney,2nd Lieutenant, 1/4th Cheshire Regiment, formerly Private 14930 Royal West Surrey Regiment, Pte PS/11512, Royal Fusiliers, Pte TR/10/61088, 104th Training Reserve Battalion. He died 6th September 1918 aged 27. He was the son of Harry and Emma Jane of 245, Nantwich Road, Crewe, Cheshire. He is buried at Reninghelst New Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium (see Medal Card)
