English: Coat of arms on Monument to Sir William Sutton, quarterly of 6 (Source: Visitations of the County of Nottingham 1559 - 1614 By George Marshall, p.142[1]):

  • 6: Argent, a bend within a bordure engrailed gules (Musters) shown here incorrectly painted; John de Sutton (d.1369) of Averham, Nottinghamshire (son of Richard Sutton and Alice Bingham) married Johanna Musters the daughter (and heiress) of Henry Musters of w:Syerston (anciently Syreston / Syrston / Sireston), Nottinghamshire (Source: http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/books/countypedigrees/musters1.htm). The family of "Mustiers" (later "de Musteres") were Domesday Book tenants of the "Richmond Fee" within the manor of Syerston. His son and heir was Sir Rowland Sutton (c.1348-1397). The Nottinghamshire Heraldic Visitation of 1634, states the arms of the Sireston branch of Musters to have been: Argent, a bend within a bordure engrailed gules.
