Summary[edit]

Description

Pen and Ink based upon a photo of a cowboy believed to be taken in New Mexico in the late 1890's or early 1900's. Even before the Civil War there were a lot of black families settled in New Mexico because there they could live free and keep the fruits of their labors. Many of them came to New Mexico as Buffalo Soldiers and served at forts like Fort Union.

No pencil or charcoal for shading... all shading is done in ink by crosshatching. Everything is freehand. The orginal image is about 6-7 inches wide
