l education by joining the or-chestra. It is under the leadership of an experienced musicianand leader, and the benefits a member derives from the rehearsalsand concerts are considerable. The orchestra is in great de-mand throughout the Association, and finds many opportiuiitiesto make itself useful. Glee Club The Glee Club is another musical organization which at-tracts the best musical talent of tlie membership. It is underthe direction of a man who has had much experience in choralwork. Concerts are given throughout the year, and muchvaluable training is received by the members. Ability to readsimple music is the only necessary qualification for membership. Moving Pictures The Association has in Bates Hall a modern moving jjicturemachine which is used constantly to provide entertainment andinstruction. Many notable educational films are shown eachyear, which are worthy of the attention of the students. Muchinformation can be received in this way in a short time withhttle effort. 21

Athletics By paying a small additional fee, stndents may avail them-selves of the privileges of the gymnasium and swimming pool.Competitive games are held with the other Y. M. C. A.s andathletic clubs. An inspection of our athletic facilities will con-vince you that they are the finest in New England. Opportu-nity is given for athletics before the opening of the evening ses-sions or during the vacant periods. The following teams are organized each j^ear: Basket ball^swimming, track, gymnastic, wrestling, baseball, tennis, bow-ling. There are usually a number of teams for each branch ofsport, making it possible for every student to play on one ofthem. For those not interested in games, opportunity is given tojoin one of the many gymnasium classes, which are directed byexperienced men. The rates for the various branches of physicalwork may be had by a))plying to the Direction of the Depart-ment of Recreation and Health.
