Summary[edit]

Description
English: County Buildings, Martin Street, Stafford, near to Stafford, Staffordshire, Great Britain.

The new County Buildings were built in Martin Street in 1893 and opened in 1895. Previously the County councillors had used the Stafford Borough Hall and the Shire Hall.
The design was by Henry Thomas Hare, who was awarded 150 and the building was constructed by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton.

The building was very modern for its day, being entirely lit by electricity and the Council Chamber was equipped with an early air conditioning system which is still in use today.
