Cronologia:
Séc. 20, inícios – construção para residência de um abastado proprietário regressado do Brasil e levantado, segundo se dizia, à semelhança da primitiva embaixada de Portugal no Rio de Janeiro; 1940 – adaptação para instalação da escola dos “Inglesinhos“, filhos de refugiados de guerra, especialmente, provenientes de Gibraltar; 1945 a 1955 – instalação do Instituto Liceal da Madeira, do professor Marmelo da Silva; 1955 – aquisição do edifício por um grupo de médicos para instalação de uma clínica; 1961 – aquisição por um grupo de empresários da construção civil para adaptação a apartamentos, mas quase de imediato para hotel; 2002, 30 fev. – Despacho da Secretaria Regional de Turismo e Cultura determinando abertura de processo de classificação do imóvel.
