| Description |
English: This photograph is one of a series which show convalescent soldiers relaxing in a recreation hut. In this example, the men are posed sitting at one end of the hut reading newspapers. A billiard table can be seen on the right. Those who were looking after soldiers who had been sick or wounded realised that their morale was often low as they had too much time to think about the horrors they had been living through. The recreation huts were one way of combating this depression. |
