The Graphic Arts Building, Toronto F. S. Baker, Architect TORONTOS RAPID GROWTH in sizeas well as artistic merit is evidenced in thenew Graphic Arts Building. The structurewas built to accommodate the publishing house ofH. Gagnier, Limited, and the engraving firm ofGrip, Limited. To properly provide for two com-panies so vastly different in their scope of work wasa problem quite complex and of an unusual charac-ter. How creditably this has been accomplished isbest shown by the general arrangement of the plansand the facility with which each concern is able totransact its tremendous business. The building is located at the intersection of Rich-mond and Sheppard Streets, and stands as a monu-ment to the great commercial activities of Toronto.Designed in a modern English adaptation of theItalian Renaissance, it presents a dignified appear-ance. The base course is raised so as to provideample light in the basement and is broken only bythe two entrances. Rising above this course aremassive
