Title
Complete but slightly damaged "toy" cannon of probable eighteenth or nineteenth century date.
Description
English: Incomplete and slightly damaged "toy" cannon of probable eighteenth or nineteenth century date. Length 55mm. Weight 21.25g.

The toy is described as if it were a functioning cannon:

The cascabel (or cascable) is simple and the button is broken and missing. The base ring is 11mm in diameter. The vent field is 4mm in length with a maximum diameter of 11mm and the vent, sometimes referred to as the "touch-hole" is about 2.5mm in diameter. In plan, the sides of the vent field are slightly convex in profile. The first reinforce is 15mm in length and 10mm in diameter. This part has some old damage in the form of two deformities and a small hole close to the trunnions. There is a second reinforce and the trunnions are set just to the rear of this. The overall length of each trunnions is about 2mm and each one is about 2mm in diameter. The chase, which is 16mm in length, tapers from being 9.5mm in diameter adjacent to the trunnions to 8.5mm in diameter at the muzzle end. The muzzle has two mouldings which have a diameter of 9mm. The bore flares and at the muzzle end it is 5.5mm in diameter. The cannon appears to be in a fair condition has a mid-green patina. There are traces of iron corrosion around the cascabel. The hole and deformed part of the first reinforce near the trunnions may have been created as a result of a mis-fire due to the use of too much gun powder.
