| Description |
Nederlands: Naast marktleider Wagons-Lits bestonden er rond 1900 verschillende nationale of regionale exploitanten van restauratierijtuigen. Om niet van een buitenlands bedrijf afhankelijk te zijn werd in 1903 de Schweizerische Speisewagengesellschaft (SSG) opgericht, in het Frans Compagnie Suisse des Wagons-Restaurants genoemd. Deze restauraties reden in de reguliere treinen van de Zwitserse federale spoorwegen, bijvoorbeeld tussen Zürich en Chur en tussen Lausanne en Brig. Vanwege anti-Franse sentimenten was Wagons-Lits al in 1896 zelf een Duits dochterbedrijf begonnen, de Deutsche Eisenbahn Speisewagen-Gesellschaft (DESG). Dit bedrijf zou tot de Eerste Wereldoorlog bestaan, terwijl het Zwitserse SSG het een volle eeuw volhield. |
