| Description |
English: Common Daisy (Bellis perennis ). Common daisy, a native of western, central and northern Europe, growing on the footpath > 1215891. Many related plants share the name "Daisy" and in order to distinguish this species from others it is also called Lawn daisy or English daisy. Its Latin name means 'fields of war'. Roman surgeons who accompanied the legions into battle ordered their slaves to pick these plants in great quantities. The juice was extracted and bandages used for dressing sword and spear cuts were soaked in it. Bellis Perennis in its homeopathic form is still used extensively as a treatment for wounds nowadays. |
