Description
Français : restes de couleur (plusieurs couches) sur une statue de Sainte Agnès, probablement sculptée entre 1520 et 1530 (le matériau est un "calcaire de l'Avesnois") ; Photographie faite dans l'atelier de restauration du Musée Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille. La statue est train d'être restaurée et nettoyée par la restauratrice Sabine Kessler (fin du travail de restauration, fin juillet 2016). Une autre statue trouvée dans la même fosse ; statue de Sainte-Madeleine est au même moment et dans le même lieu restaurée par Julie André-Madjelessi. Ces deux statues, autrefois peintes ont été grattées et débarassées de leur couleur il y a plus de 200 ans, avant d'être cachées dans une fosse, probablement pour les protéger de la colère des révolutionnaires contre la religion catholique et ses symboles), considérées comme exceptionnelles par leur style et leur état de conservation font partie d'un groupe de 4 sculptures découvertes en 2013 dans une fosse à Orchies, et dénommées "Belles du Nord".
English: traces of colors on a sculpture of Saint Agnes of Rome, probably carved circa 1520-1530 (Avesnoi's limestone); Photography done in the Museum restoration room Museum of Fine Arts in Lille. The statue is being restored and cleaned by Sabine Kessler (end of restoration work, the end of July 2016). Another statue found in the same grave ; statue of St. Agnes is at the same time and in the same place restored by Julie André-Madjelessi. Both statues are part of a group of four sculptures discovered in 2013 in a pit in Orchies, and called "Belles du nord".
