Description |
English: On June 13, 1911, Seattle's Coliseum Theatre opened a new group of photoplays (films), featuring "Human Tiger," which was billed as "an intensely tragic story." This was followed by a group of comic and sentimental films, and a performance by two local singers. Attendance was likely boosted by the distribution of free tickets for June 14, 15, and 16. The theater had added films to its vaudeville offerings in May 1911. This Coliseum Theatre, located at Third Avenue and James Street in downtown Seattle, should not be confused with the later Coliseum Theatre that opened at Fifth Avenue and Pike Street in 1916. However, both houses called themselves the "World's Greatest Photo Play" theaters. Caption information source: Seattle Daily Times, June 7, 1911, and June 13, 1911.
