Object history Das einfache Gelterkinder Wappen entspricht der französischen Trikole. Es ist aber bedeutend älter als die Flagge von Frankreich und stellt das Schild des froburgischen Ministeralgeschlechtes der Herren von Gelterkinden dar. Diese sind 1237 erstmals bezeugt. Der letztbekannte, Cunrat von Gelterchingen, starb 1308 als Chorherr zu Werd im Aargau. Auf Vorschlag der Subkommission für Gemeindewappen wurde das oben beschriebene Wappen im Februar 1944 durch Gemeinderatsbeschluss als Hoheitszeichen von Gelterkinden angenommen.
