Nederlands: Het embleem van Vliegbasis Eindhoven bevat een wolfskop en de spreuk "Were di". De wolfskop komt uit een legende. Daarin bezocht een weerwolf vroeger de Welschapse hoeve, welke op de locatie van de vliegbasis stond. De spreuk drukt onder andere de verbondenheid van de vliegbasis met de provincie Noord-Brabant uit.
De spreuk "Were di" (Weert u) werd zo'n 700 jaar geleden al gebruikt door hertog Jan van Brabant. De Brabanders werden in de slag bij Woeringen aangemoedigd verder te vechten met de woorden: "Edele Brabanders, were di, de hertog heeft de overhand, de bisschop is gevangen". Het embleem en de wapenspreuk symboliseren de vastberadenheid en slagkracht van de vliegbasis. |
